Agents: The Darkness Within

A/N: A poem I wrote to go along with Stormhawk's 'Dark Side' arc. It's from Agent Stef Mimosa's point of view, worrying if she's going to turn into Whitman.

Disclaimer: Even though nothing is really mentioned in the poem, since it's part of the Agents Series: Matrix belongs to Warner bros and the Wachowskis. Mimosa and Whitman belong to Stormhawk.

The Darkness Within

I have seen my antithesis

and she has seeped into my soul,

an unrelenting presence.

A rhapsody of madness

whispered sweet into my ear.

In the fibers of my being

there lurks a creature born of hate,

and I can feel her spreading

sometimes in the night.

I've been contaminated; tainted

though I'm trying to hold back.

She's feeding off my fears and now

I fear her more for that.

I'm afraid to see a mirror

that her face might wait inside

and I'll hear her laughing; mocking

as she commandeers my mind.

And I'm so terribly afraid

that its not wholly her;

that somewhere deep inside me

lies what sparked her to appear.

So I'm playing games of waiting; watching

and I dare not close my eyes.

For a darkness lurks within me,

unholy crimson-black,

that blurs the line twixt her and I

and I know one day I'll snap.
