First Aid

"Give me your arm."

"Huh?" Leon looked up at Ashley from where he was hunched, cradling his bleeding arm with his good one. It had been a narrow miss that the chainsaw hadn't taken it right off.

"I took first aid. Give me your arm." She stood expectantly, her hands on her hips.

Leon didn't have the energy to argue at the moment, and obediently offered it to her. "I hope you're not planning to take it the rest of the way off."

"Don't be silly." She gave him a tired smile, and started winding it with fabric torn from her own clothes.

Leon sucked in a breath– the wound hurt like hell, despite how gingerly Ashley was treating it. Not that he was going to say so. "You sure about that?"

She laughed softly, shaking her head as she tied off the makeshift bandage. "There. Good as new. Well. it could probably use some medicine. And some stitches. But as good as we can do right now."

"Thanks."

Their eyes met. Leon had been treating Ashley like a kid– and maybe he shouldn't have been. After all, was he doing any better? He was just more numb to it.

"Hey Ashley," he continued after a moment. He reached out with his good arm and touched her bare shoulder. "I mean it, thanks."

She flushed, flustered. "It's no problem, I mean, I'm here to help, and you've helped me so much already and–"

Leon cut her babbling off with a sudden kiss.

Ashley squeaked, and then she melted against him.

Leon grunted with surprise and pain as she fell against his injured arm. But he didn't break the kiss, he just put that arm around her too.

They were both under a hell of a lot of pressure right now.
