In Byakuya’s room during the killing game.

The sleeping form of Byakuya’s new lover lay curled against him, their lips trembling softly as they breathed.

Byakuya hadn’t been sure which of them it was, in the end; perhaps briefly, they’d been one. He reached down and brushed his hand over their cheek, and down to their neck.

Their pulse had slowed. It was racing when he’d first held them, more from their fervor or for him, he didn’t know. But they were resting now, thankfully. For a while, he hoped.

He leaned in and kissed them on the neck before he settled in to sleep as well.
