The whole world grinds to a halt in slow motion, as Luigi sputters.
“I didn’t mean anything by it, bro,” he laughs nervously, talking fast and twisting his fingers together this way and that, “it was a joke you know like haha, wouldn’t it be funny– wouldn’t it be funny if–”
Mario looks up at him with big blue eyes, intense and incredulous. He puts one hand on Luigi’s shoulder, and paces the other gently on his cheek.
“Luigi, my brother, calm down,” he says, slowly and firmly. “You don’t have to worry. Of course I want to kiss you.”
