Summary:

Trevor drives through the desert.

The desert is cold at night, and the breeze whips against the stubble on his face. The long stretch of empty highway curls through it like the largest of the many snakes that make their home there.

He drives with one arm dangling out of the open window of the beat up old pickup truck, the opposite palm on the wheel with a cigarette pinched between his fingers.

The voice of Johnny Cash briefly scares jackrabbits as the truck thunders by, staticky speakers blaring out an old cassette tape.

He lets out a whoop as he ratchets up the speed.
